Art Market Hamptons, previously known as Market Art + Design, will return to the East End for its 12th iteration next Thursday at a new location, Nova's Ark Project in Bridgehampton, with 90 galleries showing works from throughout the United States and abroad.

Art Market Hamptons is returning to the East End this summer and will run August 11 to 14. This year's art fair will take place on the grounds of Nova's Ark Project and Sculpture Park, which was created in part to serve as a base for large scale events for the community.

Art Market Hamptons' 12th edition will feature 90 top galleries presenting the best in modern and contemporary art and design in an expanded, museum-quality pavilion set in the 94 acre preserve located close to town, which is home to the towering, abstract sculptures created by the park's founder and namesake, artist Nova Mihai Popa.

Art Market Hamptons, the East End's premier and longest-running art fair returns from August 11th to 14th - this time moving to the sprawling grounds of one of the most unique art spaces out east, Nova's Ark Project and Sculpture Park, which was created in part to serve as a base for large scale events for the community.

Art Market Hamptons is bringing 80 top galleries to the East End. Featuring the best of modern and contemporary art and design, the fair will run from August 11 until the 14 and feature pristine showings from creators and makers around the globe.

The East End's longest-running art and design fair is making its return to the Hamptons. After last year's fair, and every other 2020 art exhibition, was presented exclusively online, Market Art + Design is coming home to the Bridgehampton Museum August 12–15.

Noting the museums [out East] and as well as all the opportunities to see art in New York City, Ms. Freeman said "I feel like I can push boundaries a bit and give people art that can be a little challenging." She added that she sees visitors coming to the fair both "to learn and to buy."

It's a testament to the strength of the collecting power out here, and the enthusiasm that the Hampton community has for cultural events.

This summer's event is slated to rival 2019, which saw Market Art + Design's biggest show to date. With a renewed sense of community after the past year, this year's event will feature a strong list of local galleries that have defined the region for the last few decades. Alongside the local exhibitions, the event will feature modern and contemporary dealers from around the country that will introduce this super-engaged audience to new galleries and new artists.

The once highly competitive Hamptons art fair season will open July 5, as Market Art + Design — apparently the last fair standing — takes over the Bridgehampton Museum for its annual four-day run, with a bigger footprint and with organizers predicting a larger crowd.

"Last year was our best year to date in terms of being able to convert attendees into buyers,” Fishko said in a phone interview. “Obviously we're very optimistic about the marketplace. We've been there for a long time and seen what the potential is."

"It's a big show,” said Freeman. “It's the biggest show we've presented so far. It shows that there is still interest for active collectors in The Hamptons and the East End."

Market Art and Design is stepping up its game for this year's fine arts fair in Bridgehampton.

Market Art + Design brought a smaller group, with over 40 exhibitors, but it was expertly curated to include international, national, and even local galleries presenting fine art and design under one roof. Eclectic, energetic works from up-and-coming creatives contrasted with the more established artists seen at Art Southampton, and gave the fair a hipper vibe.

On a weekend when two major art fairs opened simultaneously in the Hamptons, Market Art + Design at the Bridgehampton Museum, felt a bit like the “Brooklyn” version of the two, with more than its fair share of young, hip visitors, while Art Southampton seemed to be the spot to which the Hamptons “old guard” flocks.

Fairgoers will join Market Art + Design in celebrating the artistic achievements of artists and art dealers from around the world, who will be displaying beautifully curated exhibitions for guests to view.

Sponsored by the Wall Street Journal, the Bridgehampton Museum, and Perrier, the event this year is partnering with such local institutions as the Museum of Arts and Design, the American Folk Art Museum, the Watermill Center, and Lincoln Center. It will feature nearly 50 exhibitors from across the country representing hundreds of artists.

Market Art + Design opens tonight (July 7, 2016) with a VIP Preview and continues on view through July 10, 2016 on the grounds of the Bridgehampton Museum. Max Fishko and Jeffrey Wainhause have figured out a formula for art fairs. Their company, Art Market Productions, currently oversees seven fairs in the U.S. each year, and Market Art + Design (originally named Art Market Hamptons) ranks among its longest-running ventures. This year, the fair returns to its original location in Bridgehampton, where 45 exhibitors will show a fresh mix of design objects and Contemporary art inside the Bridgehampton Museum.

Hosting the panel that explores the intersection between art, the East End of Long Island and conservation was a natural for Market Art + Design. They selected the Peconic Land Trust as its recipient for its opening night Preview. The move also signifies a change in Art Market Productions previous Hamptons art fair. The 2015 edition incorporates design into its fine art contemporary art fair plus closer connections to the Hamptons and East End community.

The fair's name change from Art Market Hamptons to Market Art + Design reflects the incorporation of a curated selection of international and national designers to contemporary fine art fair.

For Hamptons visitors looking to build up their collecting savvy

"We looked at a group of people who did interesting stuff, beyond traditional artwork and in the object realm, and we are excited."

This year, Market Art + Design will be accompanied by beautiful waterfront views thanks to its new location, Fairview Farm at Mecox Bay.

"It’s been a boutique show since we started,” said co-organizer Max Fishko. “We look to provide an enjoyable, manageable experience.” A pick of only about 40 galleries, most from the East Coast, many from Manhattan and Long Island, will be showing works of art and exceptional pieces of design. While three-quarters will still be fine art, the rest will be functional works that emphasize “the handmade, the unique and the contemporary.” Museum-level craft will mingle with art on the walls."

It's all about having fun at Art Market Hamptons. artnet News started the night at Art Market Hamptons, held in a compact yet spacious tent pitched outside the Bridgehampton Historical Society. This seemed to be the more upscale of the two fairs, with a food truck garden featuring Roberta's, the Red Hook Lobster Pound, and Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream Truck, and a VIP room designed by swanky Manhattan private drinking club Norwood.

The younger fair of the two, Art Market Hamptons is actually an expansion of Mr. Fishko's similar events in San Francisco and Miami. On the East End, the intimate affair offers 40 coveted spots to contemporary art galleries from across the nation. This year, they will bring nearly 4,000 works ranging in value from $500 to $15,000 apiece, he said.

In nearly all cases, Hamptons galleries at both fairs are presenting works culled from current exhibitions, gallery favorites or a cross-section of their stable of artists.

Art Market Hamptons seeks to satisfy vacationers. “What we wanted to do was present something that was manageable in size, that people could come and see the entire show in about an hour,” director Max Fishko said.

artMRKT Productions, the Brooklyn-based organizer of contemporary and modern art fairs, will be sticking its flag in the Hamptons this summer for their inaugural artMRKT Hamptons, which will be open July 14-17 at the Bridgehampton Historical Society.

Forty U.S. galleries will offer their wares at this contemporary-focused fair. Among the exhibitors are New York's P.P.O.W., DC Moore and Lennon, Weinberg, Inc. galleries, as well as some favorites from the area, like East Hampton's Halsey Mckay and Eric Firestone.

"A few reasons why the summer is a good time and why the Hamptons is a good place has to do with the strong connection to New York,” Mr. Fishko said during a telephone interview last Tuesday."

With artMRKT Productions, it's all about the galleries and the visitors. This high touch level of service sets artMRKT apart from other fairs.

I spent the afternoon there yesterday, and was generally very impressed with the overall quality of the work, and relieved by the modest but attentive attendance and spaciously hung booths.

At the Forum Gallery booth was a sophisticated selection of works by gallery artists, including the veteran Italian idealist-realist Carlo Maria Mariani, who is currently exhibiting in the Italian pavilion at the Venice Biennale, has a new book out from Skira and has his first show scheduled at Forum in November.

For his fair, “we worked hard to present an interesting group with nothing to put people off or confuse anyone. At art fairs, while people buy different-size booths and lay them out differently, everyone looks the same. If a reputable gallery that works hard representing artists for a significant period of time is next to a fly-by-night dealer that does not have that credibility, the collector is confused and may buy something that does not have the same lasting value.

"The Hamptons provides one of the most unique settings in the country where the ideas, energy, and excitement generated and shared by artists, dealers, and collectors is exceptional,” noted Max Fishko."
