Nicolas Dubreuille

Sans Titre Ref (334), 2022

Presented by Presented by Galerie Duret

The art of Nicolas Dubreuille, an artist who has joined forces with color and geometry, is animated by a desire for research and renewal. His visually intense artworks do not yield to any system and resonate in a contemporary manner through their minimalist and pop spirit. Dubreuille produces paintings and sculptures that blend geometric and curvilinear forms that fluctuate between abstraction and figuration. Reminiscent of the work of Eduardo Chillida, Philippe Hiquily, Wassily Kandinsky, and Paul Jenkins, Dubreuille blends color and shape in a manner reflective of his motivation in exploration and revitalization. Paintings like Sans Titre Ref (242) (2020) merge color gradation, linear and curvilinear forms, clarity and space into a melody of abstraction. He paints with an intuitive and exploratory approach to overlay colorful shapes in a horizontal, vertical, and diagonal pattern. His sculptures, including Ref. 290 (2018), combine an arsenal of mismatched components to create an abstract sculpture that plays with volume and tension. He studied graphic design before achieving success as an artist.
